Canopy Launches at LCB Depot – A New Era for Leicester’s Creative Industries

On 12th March 2026, Leicester City Council officially launched Canopy at the LCB Depot — an exciting new development set to transform Leicester’s creative and design landscape.

Canopy represents a remarkable regeneration project, bringing a cluster of former factory buildings in Leicester city centre back to life. Previously known as Pilot’s House and owned by the council, the site has been reimagined into a thriving hub for creative industries.

This ambitious project has been years in the making. Since 2019, Leicester City Council has led the regeneration of five heritage buildings, delivering over 30,000 square feet of high-quality workspace. The result is a vibrant environment designed to inspire innovation, collaboration, and growth — and it’s certainly been worth the wait.

With a total investment of £14.6 million, the project demonstrates a strong commitment to the city’s future. The council contributed a third of the funding, with additional support coming from the Levelling Up Fund and other partners.

Canopy is set to play a key role in supporting Leicester’s growing creative and design sector. The space will provide a base for forward-thinking businesses focused on enterprise and innovation, while also helping to create and sustain around 250 jobs in the city centre.

The name Canopy couldn’t be more fitting — symbolising a space where ideas, businesses, and talent can truly flourish.

As Leicester continues to invest in its creative economy, developments like Canopy highlight the city’s ambition to nurture innovation and support the next generation of businesses.
