On Thursday 19th February 2026, fashion professionals, students, and entrepreneurs came together online for an engaging and informative session exploring one of the industry’s most pressing topics: traceability.
Titled What Is Traceability in Fashion, the free masterclass was hosted by Fashion-Enter Ltd as part of its ongoing Free Masterclasses series. The session welcomed members of the Apparel and Textile Manufacturers Federation (ATMF), alongside Fashion Technology Academy (FTA) students and external participants.
Expert Insight from Industry Leader Caroline Ash
The one-hour Zoom session was led by Caroline Ash, a highly respected figure in garment manufacturing with decades of experience.
Drawing on her extensive knowledge of factory operations, compliance standards, and supply chain processes, Caroline provided attendees with practical, real-world insights into what true transparency looks like within modern fashion production.
Why Traceability Matters More Than Ever
Traceability has rapidly become a defining issue across the global fashion industry. Increasingly, consumers, retailers, and brand partners expect clear answers to key questions: who made their garments, where materials were sourced, and under what conditions products were produced.
As highlighted throughout the session, transparency is no longer optional—it is fundamental to building trust, credibility, and long-term brand value.
Caroline explained how brands can effectively map every stage of their supply chain, from raw material sourcing to final delivery. She stressed that meaningful traceability relies on accurate documentation, strong supplier relationships, and open communication.
Supporting Emerging Designers and SMEs
The masterclass proved particularly valuable for emerging designers, independent labels, and small fashion businesses looking to strengthen their ethical positioning.
Attendees gained:
- A clear understanding of traceability in practical terms
- Guidance on mapping and documenting supply chains
- Strategies for communicating production processes to customers and buyers
- Insight into the connection between transparency, sustainability, and brand differentiation
- Lessons from Fashion-Enter Ltd’s experience as a fully audited UK manufacturer
Technology Driving Transparency
A key highlight of the session was the introduction to Galaxius, a digital platform designed to support traceability in fashion.
Caroline demonstrated how designers can use tools like Galaxius to present sourcing decisions, manufacturing processes, and sustainability commitments in a structured and credible way—helping to bridge the gap between production and consumer understanding.
From Compliance to Storytelling
A central theme throughout the masterclass was that traceability goes beyond compliance. It is about telling authentic, evidence-based stories.
Brands that can confidently communicate how and where their products are made are better positioned to build stronger, more meaningful relationships with both customers and industry partners.
The interactive format encouraged participants to reflect on their own supply chains and identify actionable improvements, with many leaving the session feeling motivated to embed transparency into their business practices from the outset.
Continuing Industry Education
This session forms part of Fashion-Enter Ltd’s wider commitment to providing accessible, industry-led education for fashion entrepreneurs.
The next masterclass, Fashion Brand Foundations: From Concept to Manufacturing, is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 10th March 2026, continuing the series’ focus on equipping the next generation of designers with the tools for success.
