Role Overview:
We are seeking a Junior Sewing Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate various sewing machines to assemble garments with precision and efficiency. The position requires careful attention to detail, familiarity with different machine types, and the ability to maintain quality standards in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate industrial sewing machines to sew, assemble, and finish garments according to production requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure smooth operation and reduce downtime.
- Inspect fabrics and materials for quality issues and report any discrepancies to the production supervisor.
- Collaborate with the production team to achieve daily targets and deadlines.
- Ensure all garments meet the company’s quality standards.
- Follow health and safety protocols while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Support and assist in training junior machinists when needed.
- Contribute to process improvements and greater efficiency within the sewing department.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a sewing machinist within the apparel manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency with industrial sewing machines such as overlock, flatlock, and coverstitch.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality garments.
- Experience working with a range of fabrics, including cotton, denim, and synthetic materials.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
- Understanding of health and safety requirements in a manufacturing environment.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of garment finishing techniques such as pressing and folding.
- Basic understanding of machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
