ATMF Supports Emerging Leicester Designer Giselle Kandekore

On 20th March 2026, the Apparel and Textile Manufacturers Federation (ATMF) welcomed emerging designer Giselle Kandekore for an introductory meeting focused on skills development, manufacturing support, and future collaboration opportunities within Leicester’s textile community.

A Rising Talent from De Montfort University

Giselle, a 2025 graduate in Fashion Design from De Montfort University (DMU), is already establishing a strong creative identity within the industry. Her distinctive streetwear designs were previously showcased on the Leicester Made catwalk as part of the university’s student showcase, highlighting her as a promising new voice in contemporary fashion.

Currently part of the DMU Crucible entrepreneurial programme, which supports graduates in launching their own businesses, Giselle is the founder of ZELIE*—a unisex streetwear label centred on individuality, longevity, and community.

A Vision Rooted in Heritage and Modern Culture

Inspired by the durability of 1990s fashion and the energy of modern street culture, ZELIE* combines classic silhouettes, such as denim, with sport-influenced styles like tracksuits. The result is a collection of bold, non-gendered garments designed with longevity in mind.

Giselle is also committed to local manufacturing, with ambitions to produce and source her collections entirely within Leicester—celebrating the city’s rich textile heritage while embracing forward-thinking, sustainable practices.

Developing Skills and Industry Connections

During her visit, Giselle met with Jo Bean to explore how ATMF and Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL) can support her next steps.

Discussions focused on:

  • Enhancing technical skills, particularly in pattern grading
  • Accessing Fashion Technology Academy (FTA) Leicester facilities
  • Advancing product development and sampling
  • Gaining strategic guidance on scaling her brand

Plans are also in place for Giselle to connect with Jenny Holloway, CEO of FEL and Chair of ATMF, to further develop her commercial and manufacturing strategy.

Building the Future of UK Fashion

With access to industry expertise, local supplier networks, and specialist training, Giselle is working to build the technical knowledge and commercial understanding needed to take her brand from concept to production.

This collaboration highlights ATMF’s continued commitment to nurturing emerging talent and supporting the next generation of designers—strengthening Leicester’s position at the heart of the UK’s fashion and textile industry.
